2nd Answer:
I think anyone could play sports in the Middle Ages, just as they can today. There was really very little in the way of restrictions except for sports like jousting, which were only open to knights. But there were a lot of sports available, and many of them were really open to anyone.
Please see the related question below for information on medieval sports.
Medieval sports consisted of jousting, sword fighting, etc. Modern day sports is more team oriented such as, football, basketball, etc. ----- Sports of the Middle Ages included all sorts of things we would recognize today, including various forms of billiards, bowling, golf, football, and a number of others. The biggest difference was that the rules were not written down, and sometimes were virtually nonexistent. One of the forms of football, for example, was sometimes played with no limit to the number of players on either side. It was called mob football, and was often played in the middle of a town, with no apologies to passers by, who might get drafted into the home team, if they were local. Jousting was done in the Middle Ages, and was more important than the exhibitions we see occasionally today. But that sort of thing was only played by knights, and common people were left out. It was something for the historians to talk about, but quite probably most competitions involved the common folk.
It made the Church dependent on individual monarchs.
merchants ran very sizable businesses also they dominated the town and grew very wealthy
Medieval, "police," typically called upon all citizens of a community to catch and deliver a criminal. Citizens who didn't participate were often fined, although being the criminal was much worse. Citizens who suspected foul play would raise a, "hue and cry," in which the local authorities would respond to. Medieval communities were often responsible for their own protection, so they tended to lean more towards heavy punishments rather than wasting time catching criminals. Thieves who were found guilty were hanged...enough said.

no, women didn't participate in anything in medieval times, women were looked down on and it was inappropriate.
becuase women were considered sacrid, and they were thought to be magical and they didn't want to mess up thier magical powers. the women didn't want to ruin thier dresses. also if they lost the sports game, they would get thrown off the moats, and that would be bad. Men were also way too agressive.
