Burning of Rome. The burning of Rome had nothing to do with Nero's downfall. In fact many people praised his rebuilding efforts, even his enemies. Nero was also loved by the poor. The cause of Nero's downfall the rebellion of Gaius Julius Vindex, the governor of Roman province Gallia Lugdunensis, against Nero's tax policies.and the support he received from Servius Sulpicius Galba, the governor of Hispania Tarraconensis, when Nero got Lucius Verginius Rufus, the governor of Germania Superior, to suppress his rebellion. Vergius defeated Vindex, However, the troops from Germania were unhappy with Nero and Galba marched on Rome. The imperial guard in Rome also turned its back on Nero and supported Galba. Nero tired to commit suicide, but he could not do it. He got his his private secretary to kill him.
Nero did not an empire of his own. He was the emperor of the Roman Empire. This empire continued for centuries after his death. Nero's reign ended with the rebellions by Vindex, the governor of one of the Roman provinces in Gaul and Galba, the governor of one of the provinces in Hispania. The Praetorian Guard (Imperial Guard) in Rome allied with Galba. There were false news that the senate had declared Nero an enemy of the state. The senate was actually thinking of trying to negotiate a compromise, but nero did not know this. When Nero heard some horsemen approaching his palace, he decided to commit suicide. However, he could not do it and forced his private secretary to kill him.

It was not quite like that. Galba did not raise a legion to overthrow Nero. By the time he raised his legion, Nero had already died through assisted suicide and Galba had already been recognised as emperor . He and his legio VII Galbiana, were welcomed in the city of Rome. Moreover:1) The rebellion against Nero was not started by Galba. It was started by Caius Julius Vindex, the governor of Gallia Lugdunensis, one of the Roman provinces in Gaul. Vindex was defeated and killed in battle by Lucius Verginius Rufus. After this Nymphidius Sabinus, the prefect of the Praetorian (imperial) Guard, wanted to become emperor and got the guards to support Galba to bolster his bid for power. However, when Nero died Galba was recognised as emperor. It was after Nero had died and after he had been recognised as emperor that Galba made his move. He did not do any fighting.2) Galba was not the governor of Spain. Spain did not exist back then. He was the governor of Hispania Tarraconensis, one of the three Roman provinces in Hispania (the Iberian Peninsula).
There is not a name for Nero's defeat. Nero was never defeated. There was the rebellion of Vindex and Galba. Gaius Julius Vindex, the governor of Roman province of Gallia Lugdunensis rebelled. Lucius Verginius Rufus, the governor of province of Germania Superior, was ordered to put down the rebellion and easily defeated Vindex at the Battle of Vesontio in May 68. Vindex committed suicide and the troops from Germania wanted to proclaim Verginius as emperor. Verginius refused to act against Nero. The troops turned their support to Servius Sulpicius Galba, the governor of the province of Hispania Tarraconensis, who had been called to join the rebellion and to declare himself emperor. The praetorian (imperial) guard in Rome decided to support Galba. Nero fled Rome, but then some officers refused to obey his orders and he returned to Rome. He was abandoned by his guards and his friends. When he heard a report that the senate had declared him an enemy of the state Nero decided to kill himself. He did not manage to do this and got his private secretary to kill him. However, the senate had not declared Nero an enemy and wanted to work out a compromise between him and the rebels. All this happened before Galba reached Rome.
The year after Nero's death is known as the year of the four emperors. Technically, Galba was the one who succeeded Nero, but he didn't last long and was overthrown by Otho, who in turn was overthrown by Vitellius., who in turn was overthrown by Vespasian.

There were revolts against him first by Vindex and the final one by Galba. He was deserted by his followers and fled to a freedman's villa where he committed suicide.
