Having won in the eastern theater, Germany began its offensive against France. It began in May of 1940.
On May 10, 1940, the Germans began their infantry offensive by attacking Holland and Belgium. The French generals ignored intelligence reports about a large German force west of the Ardennes. In keeping with their original plans, French General Gamelin ordered his armies into Belgium to counter the German offensive. The French 7th and 1st armies reached their objectives on the first day, they were motorized. The French infantry arrived a day later using train railways as much as possible.
The German Blitzkrieg was successful in Poland, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, France, Yugoslavia & Greece. It was unsuccessful against the Soviet Union and unsuccessful against the British Commonwealth in North Africa.
