Cuban airmen went to NORTH Vietnam in the late 60's and trained two sets of North Vietnamese MIG-17 airmen to attack US Navy warships in the South China Sea (part of the Pacific Ocean). One of the MIG's scored a direct hit on the USS Higsbee in 1972, destroying the 5" gun after mount, but causing no fatalities.
