Did Hitler die at the end of the war?

Adolf Hitler committed suicide on April 30, 1945. Germany surrendered, ending the war in Europe, on May 8, 1945. This means that Hitler died nine days prior to the war's end.

To complicate it a bit further, Japan officially surrendered on September 2, 1945, and this fully ended World War II. That surrender came just over four months after Hitler's death.

There is no proof that Hitler killed himself. The show Mystery Quest on the History Channel investigated it. They actually got to visit the place where Russia holds on the facts and archives related to Hitler's "death". They only let one person inside (the archeologist) who got many DNA samples, he even got small fragments from the brain that was supposedly Hitler's. When they tested it at the lab they actually concluded that it was a girl's head and couldn't possibly be Hitler's. The blood samples couldn't even be concluded since they needed to be tested with someone related to Hitler. (they refused to be tested)That episode of Mystery Quest really changed my perception on Hitler's death. Due to both evidence and lack of evidence i give it a 60% chance change that he escaped and a 40% chance he committed suicide.

Hitlers death by suicide at the end of WW2 allowed the German army to be able to surrender. They were bound by an oath of allegiance to the Fuehrer. This was part of the problem with both the European & Japanese wars, the Allied requirement for Unconditional Surrender.
