Yes and no. Both prayed to the same God, and were proud to be Americans. The North was a region of industry, and the South was basically agriculture based. The people of the south agreed in a solid union, but felt each state had individual rights that could not be infringed upon by a central government. The northern soldier was better educated than his Confederate counterpart on average, but was not as martial in habits, not as familiar with the use of weapons or horseback riding. One fact many do not know, although most today use the term "Yankee" to describe the typical Union soldier, during the war, the rebs reserved this term for the soldiers from New England states, often asking mid western soldiers why they were fighting with the hated "Yankees".
I don't think Lincoln was waging war on himself. Yes, they had different presidents. Jefferson Davis was President of the Confederacy. Abraham Lincoln was President of the United States.
Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford supported South Vietnam. The Soviet and Red Chinese presidents supported their ally (with equipment)...North Vietnam.
The presidents of the south were the same as the north. When the south seceded from the union, Jefferson Davis became president of the southern states. George Washington Thomas Jefferson James Madison James Monroe Andrew Jackson James Polk
There were many different Generals in the Civil War, but Lincoln hired all of the generals for the North who was the Union and the South who was the Confederates was mostly general Robert E. Lee. Douglas was the president of the South since the south wanted to break away from the union.
The North and the South grew apart, because they had very different opinions on slavery and if they should have it or not. They also grew apart when the Civil war took place. Why? They had different perspectives on almost EVERYTHING!
the north achieve its objective while the south.....
Buchanan and Lincoln for the north; Davis for the south
Abe Lincoln of the north and Jefferson Davis of the south
The north and the south fought because of slavery and because the south wanted to become a different country.
The North. All the Presidents till the end of the century were expected to have a good war behind them.
Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, and Ford supported South Vietnam. The Soviet and Red Chinese presidents supported their ally (with equipment)...North Vietnam.
The North is Abe Lincoln and the South is Jefferson Davis. No one was really in charge of anyone, but actually your right because both the north and south voted for their presidents and they became the leaders of their sides. They didn't put Abraham Lincoln in the ballot in the South because they didn't like.
They had good presidents, an organized government, people to fight, farms to supple food, and weapons.
The north doesn't grow cotton, but, it has a lot of industry. The south's use of cotton, (and their need of slaves), and their limited industry helped lead to the civil war and the south's defeat.
