How did Russia get out of World War 2?

After WWII, the Soviet Union turned its attention to rebuilding its own economy and aiding in post-war reconstruction in Eastern European Soviet satellite states. It also assisted the Chinese communist party and increasingly became involved in expanding its influence to other parts of the world. The Soviet Union's growing influence and the spread of communism led to the Cold War between it and the U.S.
