Thailand, known as "The Kingdom of Siam" at the time declared war on the German Empire, Austria-Hungarian Empire, The kingdom of Bulgaria, and the Ottoman Empire at the same time in 1917. They wanted to prove to the western powers that they were a legit country and will not tolerate colonization, in addition if they were to join the central powers they would be wiped out by their neighboring French Indochina and the British India. They sent a group of 1,200 elite troops of which 19 were killed and are named in the WWI memorial in Bangkok.
