* Wars always increase imployment. * Even before Pearl Harbour; Amerikan industry was gearing up a warmachine, making arms for Europe. * The production of war materials; reduced the production of, and availability of consumer goods; so invested savings grew. * War alwas has the afect of uniting, thus the country began to bind together, with a common goal, even before it entered the fighting of the war.

It actually didn't in and of it's self as MPC reached zero and all resources were put towards the war effort, but the effects of the way led to greater spending. Spending is what affects GDP, which affects the unemployment rate, as GDP grows the Unemployment rate drops, thus the economy grows and we leave a period of depression. This came about by spending and the war effort, but also that the number of workers in the civilian work force dropped thanks to the boys overseas. Once the war was over, Americans began to spend as they did so, there was a greater need for workers for jobs to produce goods. This combined with the G. I. Bill, Cold War Spending, the Eisenhower Interstate system (including Cold War Spending), and the baby boom.

Wartime requires a tremendous outpouring of materials to fight the war. These are made in factories, and the factories must hire more workers to keep up with demand. High employment equals goodbye to economic depression.
