If the award is not noted on his discharge, the only way is to find the Citation or orders awarding it amongst his personal papers. If anything official can be found, a copy can be taken to any Veteran Service Officer, located at any federal building (some County office buildings too) and they will help you. If this is impossible, you can write a letter (providing your kinship) requesting the medal to: DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY, US Army RESERVE PERSONNEL CENTER, 9700 Page Blvd., St. Louis, MO. 63132-5200.
