47 Canadian nurses died from disease, hospital ship sinking, bombings. According to Collections Canada 3,141 women enlisted as nurses.

14 Nursing Sisters were aboard the Canadian hospital ship Llandovery Castle when it was sunk in June of 1918. The U-boat that torpedoed the ship surfaced also sunk all but one lifeboat and shot many of the survivors. Out of 234 aboard the ship, only 24 survived.

6 Nursing Sisters died as a result of their hospital being bombed. 15 are known to have died of disease.

A good website "Finding the Forty-Seven" is tracking down how and when the nurses died.

First answer is TOTALLY WRONG.

During the Great War, 1914 to 1918, the Canadian Expeditionary Force totaled about seven hundred thousand men, and during the Second World War, 1939 to 1945, Canada had one million one hundred thousand men in uniform.

So the answer to the question would be a total during the two World Wars of ONE MILLION EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND MEN.

The combined death toll of Canadians in both wars is about 66,000, and the number of wounded and crippled is about 300,000.

During the Second World War, Canada had one out of every three adult males in the military services, army, navy , and the air force.

ANSWER: For Canada served in WW1 is 565,000 and how much died is 64,944 so you both got WW1 wrong

I believe that you are answering...for an "or"...how many served in ww 1   *OR*  ww 2....

During the Great War, Canada contributed over 600,000 soldiers to the battlefields whilst also providing vital manufacturing facilities and training soldiers from across the world. The result of this dedicated effort is often said to have 'made' Canada as a nation.
