Between 1939 and 1941, 80,000 to 100,000 mentally ill adults in institutions were killed; 5,000 children in institutions; and 1,000 Jews in institutions. Outside the mental health institutions, the figures are estimated as 20,000 (according to Dr. Georg Renno, the deputy director of Schloss Hartheim, one of the euthanasia centers) or 400,000 (according to Frank Zeireis, the commandant of Mauthausen concentration camp). Another 300,000 were forcibly sterilized. Overall it has been estimated that over 200,000 individuals with mental disorders of all kinds were put to death

What was the best way to die during the Holocaust?

There were many different ways to die in the Holocaust. It was a tragic event. One way was they would make you strip down naked, telling you you were either taking a shower or getting bugs removed, and put you into a small, cellar like room. They would fit as many people as possible into the one room, then they would gas you either with hydrocyanic acid (Zyklon B) with carbon monoxide. There were many other ways to die, but this was a tragic one.

Why are the Nazis bad?

Nazi soldiers definitely did the wrong thing. Just because if people were different it doesn't mean you can control them. extremely killed more than 6,000,000 Jews just because he didn't like them. Nobody knew what was going on and now people feel guilty and even the young children in Germany now deny that this whole holocaust (world war II) thing never happened, but it did and it might be done again Nazi started the Jewish Genocide or the Holocaust. Germany was in debt from World War One and blamed the Jews for their economic depression and killed most of the Jewish population in Europe. Nazis murdered Jews many ways. the mostly popular being either shot. killed in a gas chamber or while in a concentration camp. Nazis also killed handicaps. gay people. Gypsies. pregnant women and other Europeans. The Nazis are the people who killed the people in the Holocaust. They murdered them with knives and rifles. They tortured them in any possible way. They were Hitler's soldiers in the mass murders. Nazi refers to a member of the national socialist party in Germany prior to and during world war two. In fact, as regimes go, it is the closest to pure good and pure evil in the last couple of hundred years. Most people consider the Nazi State to be the epitome of evil. Nazis were like any group of people with absolute power. they became drunk with power. and the others who did nothing to stop it out of fear they were cowards. they had a delusional plan about themselves out of power and arrogance. this was there down fall. the Nazis were bad because of their beliefs. some times one persons grander delusion can infect others. for that the Nazis became as wicked as any human is capable of given the right circumstances. You can't possibly mean that there were "good Nazis" in the same terms that means there are good Catholic priests and nuns. Good Nazis were good at being evil. Germans for the most part were not Nazis. they simply didn't care enough to stand up to them when they had the chance, and went along with them when they didn't have to. As to being good people. they are mutually exclusive. I am sad to know that more and more. as time goes by fewer and fewer people are aware of that. There will be a time when we are all gone. and most people will say it didn't happen. That is exactly why General Eisenhower ordered that all those films be made. He said there would come a time when people would deny it happened. That time is now. and you are part of it.

Why do people call Down Syndrome Down's?

Down syndrome is the correct term. People who are using "Downs" are speaking incorrectly. Down syndrome used to be called Down's syndrome, but since John Langdon Down did not have nor "invent" this chromosomal abnormality, the correct name is Down syndrome. Countries such as the UK, still use the term Down's syndrome, but shortening it to Down's is not using people first language, therefore, it is incorrect.
