1. People back then, thought the same way people think today; war's are entertaining to watch from a distance (today it's TV). Bull Run practically wiped out the spectators watching that particular battle; they got caught up in it. They found out war wasn't the entertainment they thought it was...it was REAL! The second thing they found out was, the Southerner could fight.
