When Warhol was creating the artwork they were using the role ‘a visual record of the people, places, and events of their time and place. I wouldn’t say any of the other roles really hit that spot with the making of this piece. Naming the artwork “Race Riot” really puts a lot of meaning and thoughts into one’s mind. ( Thinking back to all my years of schooling, we all know something about the events that happened in Birmingham, Alabama at least I do). This role was important for Warhol due to capturing the events that actually went down during these times.
