Radio was the primary civilian entertainment and news connection for people. There were radio shows like the Long Ranger or The Dark Shadow, music, and news reports about the war. The only other way to see or hear something about the war was the newsreels at the movies. The radio was used by the German's andJapanese as Propaganda tools to our troops. The Japanese had "Tokyo Rose" who would broadcast every night to the American troops that they were going to loose the war. People depended on the radio.

The radio was the only device the military forces had to use in communication and for informational purposes. The radio also kept the people of the home fronts updated on events of the war. The radio allowed government leaders to reach their people and the military. The telephone was used to but when troops were far way from phones they had to use the radio.
