The Battle of Cooch's Bridge (or, Iron Hill) was the only land-battle of the Revolutionary War fought in the state of Delaware. Occurring on September 3rd of 1777, this battle was an uneven contest between a large British force advancing on Philadelphia and a small American militia. Despite the disparity of numbers, the American force waged an all-day battle, only to succumb in the end, with the British force moving on to the eventual occupation of the American capitol.
