The soldiers that fought in World War 1 varied considerably in age. Some went to war when they were in their early teens, but generaly anybody healthy enough to fight. Some parents sent their sons off to war, but the fathers didn't always go as well. Most men were expected to fight, as it was their duty to king and country.
