Since many women and non-whites were able to work in the war industries and run business of men who went to war the US labor force learned women and non-whites could work as well as the white men who went to war. It took a long time after the war but eventually the workforce had about 40 percent women and non-whites. Ending segregation in the South took a civil rights act to end that terrible practice. Women learned they could be workers, have careers and professions. They went to college and became higher paid career persons. Many went into scientific industries and the medical world. Many became educators, business owners, investors, or even lawyers. Non-whites have been able to rise in the workforce too.
