NZ was colonized by the British and a country in the British Empire. When Great Britain went to war with Germany, so did NZ, Australia, Canada, and other countries which were then part of the British Empire. WW1 was not merely a clash of countries. It was a clash of empires, even more so than WW2, and it is difficult to equate in a modern context now that Imperialism is in the past. The question "Why should NZ get involved?" was probably not asked in NZ at the time, at least not aloud.
Please clarify who it is disagreed about the war and then we can answer your question about why they disagreed. Thank you.

Fundamental questions are propositions that individuals put forward in-order to find meaning and purpose in their lives.
There is a fundamental problem with this question. In our finite reasoning, we a assume that what ever exists must have a creator (directly or indirectly). Since god exists, he himself must have been created. Right? The more proper perspective should be: what has a "beginning" must have a creator. Since god has no beginning, he has no creator.
There is not enough information in the question to answer it. Involved where? Please restate the question.
If the disagreement is a question of data interpretation, relative merits of a procedure, how best to design a research proposal, or any other clear, objective question related to the science at hand, then everyone benefits. If the disagreement is a petty, personal spat, or some other form of ego display, then no one benefits. The first kind of disagreement can lead to new insights and/or clarity around some part of a project that needed to be better understood or better defined.
