Communism is a type of government that is structured on the holding of all property in common. It is a political theory for a society where all people are equal and each individual works and is paid based on their abilities and needs.

Communism is notable for the abolition of private property. It focuses on a classless society based on the common ownership of the means of production. This, according to Karl Marx can be achieved by the revolution of the Proletariats (the working class) against the Bourgeoisie (or those who have ownership of capital, and the means of production). Then dissolving the class structure entirely providing the aforementioned common ownership of property and the means of production. As Marx wrote in The Communist Manifesto, the problem with such a revolution is that historically, the old proletariat, once victorious, tends to become the new Bourgeoisie, thus the necessity of dissolving class structure and private ownership. Despite popular belief, Communism is more of an economic system than a political one, although certain political ideologies are inherent in any such system.

As with any system of belief, there will be supporters and detractors of what ever system is in place. The Communist Party of the Russian Federation is still a political force, and there are still people who would prefer a return to the ways of the Soviet era.

Why does communsim start in many countries?

Communism had mass appeal to many especially in the Third World. One of the reasons for this was that many nations had for years ruled by Europeans who had treated the native people harshly as part of it's teachings Communism rejects imperialism and colonization by foreign powers this had enormous appeal. In Europe itself many poor people believed that Communism could make their lives better and it's out of this hopelessness that many joined Communist parties. Communism also had support in nations ruled by right-wing dictators such as those in Latin America, who banned trade unions and oversaw great gaps in income inequality that lead to mass unrest of which communism was a part of.
