Absolutely, he was elected in 1834 because of his support of federalism, however he completely swapped sides after his election and went full authoritarian centralist. He proceeded to disarm civic militias, dissolve congress, and in 1835 he repealed the 1824 Mexican Constitution which lead to the Texas Revolution as well as numerous other revolts in the former Federal Mexican Republic. He was brutal in his rule, massacring many of the rebellions that sprouted across Mexico (Zacatecas Rebellion and more (in)famously the Alamo).
