No. He was a Union General, popular with the rank and file, but mistrusted in Washington, where some of Lincoln's cabinet doubted his loyalty.
After Lincoln eventually sacked him, he stood against him in the 1864 election, but lost.

To revive Union morale after the disastrous defeat at First Bull Run. He successfully reorganised the Army of the Potomac, and was popular with the rank-and-file. On the retirement of the aged Winfield Scott as General-in-Chief, McLellan was appointed in his place at less than half his age. Under the test of real operations, however, McLellan turned out to be all talk, no action, and Lincoln fired him. In the General Election of 1864, McLellan stood against Lincoln, and lost.
Apart from providing a husband and three sons for the Confederate armies, there was not a lot she could do, as she was increasingly incapacitated. On being captured during the Peninsula campaign, she was allowed to continue on her way to Richmond, as a courtly gesture by the Union commander George McLellan, perhaps mimicking the Confederate style.
