Best Answer

Improvised explosive devices. They are homemade explosives, landmines etc that are usually left and detonated remotely by an enemy. They are usually made from recovered explosives from unexplored bombs and put together with household items. Can be made from anything to hand depending on how creative the soldier is.

Asymetric warfare what is it?

Asymmetric warfare is defined as an unconventional engagement where a traditional army faces an insurgency or low-intensity guerrilla army. A symmetric conflict would have been, for example, the US versus the Soviet Union in the cold war. Both armies were similarly composed of armored divisions, infantry and support. Tactics could be expected to be somewhat similar (allowing for differences in doctrine). The tools with which they waged were at least equivalent. Against rebel or insurgency groups, however, engagement is different. Al-Q'aida doesn't have main battle tanks or artillery; they have Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), suicide bombers and death squads. Asymmetric warfare means a traditional army facing off against a decentralised force (often called 'networked' force). The obvious difficulties are that the traditional army (e.g. the USA) cannot just deploy tanks, because their opponents aren't an army in uniform who they can shoot at. It requires a different approach and different tools.

How do you fight a guerrilla war?

A guerilla war is fought by small groups of fighters (cells) employing hit and run tactics such as ambushes, snipers and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in order to catch catch the enemy off guard. By using these methods the guerillas maximises the damage they do to the conventional army while minimising their exposure to attack and risk to themselves, this also causes negative psychological effects for their enemies who will feel constantly exposed to ambushes, snipers and explosives but will be unable to vent their aggression and frustration at guerillas who quickly disappear. In addition to combat tactics the guerilla must also gain the support of the local population in order to gain local knowledge of supply routes, patrols and the geography of the area as well as safehouses to hide fighters and equipment. Because guerillas don't have access to the military resources their enemies have they must also rely on the population for food and water new recruits and to smuggle weapons and ammunition past checkpoints. Guerilla wars are generally fought over a long period of time where the combined attrition of soldiers and materiel and the duration of the conflict will erode public and political will to continue.

How did bin laden became powerful?

you can thank good ol george bush and the rest of the government for that. in the 70's during the afghan/russian war, the cia secretly trained mujihadeen fighters to stop the soviets. the capitalists wanted the communists to look bad and weak for loosing against afghanistan osama was a high ranking mujihadeen commander, the reason he was made a commander was because he was already rich and influential because of his dads business. his dad muhammed bin laden had the largest construction company in the middle east. the net worth was around 300 BILLION! and he was also already a bush family business partner. so the cia made him there top middle eastern asset. the cia taught him everything from how to make ieds and skillfully shooting guns, to being a good tactical thinker (probably how he was able to do 9/11 with government help) after the war, the bin laden family became good business partners with the bush family. before bush became the president, he started a small and relatively crappy oil company called arbusto. it was good at basically drilling dry holes in texas, so it was about to go out of business.you would think that bush would get his money to save the company from his already rich and controversial dad, but he didn't. he got his money from the bin laden family who were his top investors. at the same time, george bushes dad became a bin laden investor. because the bin laden family owned the largest construction business in the middle east. this money from the bin ladens basically saved bush jr.'s career. eventually once arbusto got back on it's feet, it merged with harken energy. bush became a top salesman for the company. however, the economy was already headed for the toilet, so harken sent a memo to all employees, stating to not sell any harken stock to investors for fear of lawsuits. but bush did anyway, he sold 950,000 dollars of stock. later, harken lost over 150 million dollars which almost sent harken into bankruptcy. a creative ponzi scheme if you think about it. when bush was governor of texas, taliban leaders had a meeting with oil company executives, discussing an oil pipeline that would extend from the caspian sea, all down through turkmenistan, afghanistan, and pakistan where it would flow into the arabian sea, get picked up by saudi oil rigs, and givin the saudi arabia where it would be exported by saudi arabia to every country apart of nato. all this, plus bush is an admitted member of the skull and bones secret society at yale. even on national tv, he said its so secret he can't say anymore other than that he was a member while at yale, along with his dad. its obviously something corrupt, because alot of people leave that club as instantly rich politicians. anyway, the taliban disagreed with the pipes, so the gov needed an excuse to invade afghanistan and forcefully install it. 9/11. which they then used there scapegoat osama bin laden, to blame it on and invade afghanistan. drugs are another main reason for the invasion, afghanistan is the largest producer of poppy plants in the world. if military goes in and lets harvesters get the plants, they can transport it out of afghan, to mexican drug cartels. there, the cartels ship it across the border, where it floods the streets with drugs and violence. making it easier for laws to restrict our rights even more, and effectivly turn america into a police state. also, poppy plants turn into opium, which turns into herion, which turns into MORPHINE! hospitals use it for pain relief more than any other drug out there. without this stuff pharmisutical companys and hospitals would go out of business. and the taliban made it hard, they were burning poppy fields for religous reasons. labeling taliban as an enemy for harboring bin laden and other high ranking member of al qaeda like al zarqawi( iraqi based al qaeda lieutenant) and ayman al-zawahiri ( al qaeda second in command leader and bin laden personal doctor) is a great way to let the mass media and the public hate them, and want war even more in the middle east. i also doubt hes even dead, first of all, they have 1 photoshoped picture of him dead, they dumped him in the ocean(good excuse to not have to show they have no body) and the seals who did it were all killed 3 weeks later by "taliban revenge" attack with an rpg on the chinook helicopter carrying them. so you have your answer, osama is highly trained, tactical genious, and super rich because of "THE GREATEST COUNTRY ON EARTH" terrorism? please....
