There were a number of elements that made fighting in Vietnam difficult. Among these were thick jungles, lack of acclimatization of occupying forces (French then US troops), difficulty identifying the enemy (a guerrilla force that blended with the homogenous population), lack of home front support (growing social unrest and antiwar sentiment), unclear objectives, ineffective (puppet) government in South Vietnam, unsteady ally government, long supply lines (approximately 8,000 miles of ocean between the US and Vietnam, and a host of other reasons.

Not anymore difficult than any other modern war fought in the 20th century. Was kept a bit more busier because the chopper made it easier to use men over and over again, even when they were too exhausted to go on (they had to plea for a break (officers and NCOs made the plea).
Answer
The jungle terrain and weather enabled the native people to hide and fight another day. Later, tunnels were found under the jungles. Before the US entered the war, the French, British and Australians had been at it for years.
Jungles A+
Officially only Australian and New Zealanders fought in Vietnam, NOT men from Great Britain. ^^^ Wrong British troops did not fight alongside the American's in the Vietnam war. However, British troops were stationed in South Vietnam on the 13th September 1945. They were charged with restoring French rule over Vietnam. They released French Military units previously arrested by the Japanese, maintained order and were to a drawn into clashes against the Viet Minh in Southern Vietnam. The French may not have been able to establish a foothold in Southern Vietnam and force the Viet Minh out of Saigon without British assistance. Not so much fighting but more restoring order
1. A war is fighting another nation (THEIR AIR FORCE, NAVY, & ARMY). Was the US fighting against a nation in Vietnam? Yes, the country called North Vietnam. 2. Was the US fighting a nation in WWII? Yes , the US was fighting Germany & Japan (yes and Italy, but they surrendered so quickly, historians often leave them out of the debate). 3. Was the US fighting a nation in the war of 1812? Yes, the nation called Great Britain. A Police Action or Law Enforcement Action is fighting against terrorists (Criminals or Insurgents) who have no nation (if they did the US would attack that nation, destroying terrorists would be EASIER THEN!). The United States is NOT fighting against the nations of Iraq nor Afghanistan. Therefore the United States of America is NOT at war with those nations. Those are police actions...the restoring of law, order, and stability to those regions...or at least in Afghanistan, the capturing or killing of terrorists.
President Johnson did NOT like the Vietnam War; He didn't like to talk about it, he didn't want to hear about it, and he didn't want "...to send American Boys to fight a war that Asian Boys should be fighting..." to quote one of his televised broadcasts. Johnson wanted to concentrate on HOME MATTERS; primarily his "Great Society." Vietnam angered him so much, he refused to remain President of the United States after his first term expired.
The war in Vietnam was a civil war. North Vietnam(Communists being supplied by China and the USSR) vs South Vietnam(A democracy). The US trying to stop the spread of communism without direct war with the USSR. Moved in to support the the south. The US and the South Vietnese Army(SVA) made great progress against the North Vietnese Army(NVA). However they had a great deal of trouble fighting the Viet Cong(VC), the guerrilla forces of the NVA. The US's involvement ended around 1972 when the US government pulled out do to the public greatly speaking out against it. The US lost about 50,000 men. But the NVA lost more than 1 million. 3 years after the Americans pulled out the NVA defeated the SVA and Vietnam has been united as 1 communist country ever since.
This has caused me great difficluty.
In Vietnam European nation Great Britain tried to reassert their colonial. They also tried to claim Indochina.

The Vietnam war originally began as a "guerrilla war" this meant a great deal of fighting in the jungles between the North and the South. It eventually turned into a war in the air but this was much later.
The flu became deadly in 1980 because of the mutations it underwent. When the virus is not recognized by the human immune system, it has great difficulty fighting the infection.
we should face any difficulty with courage
