It depends, if you are looking at the quality of the individual soldier (how well trained he/she is) the Royal British Army would come under that along with the quality of the weapons.

If you are looking at the amount of soldiers, then the North Korean and the American armies would come under that. But the Americans are slightly larger and have better training.

Other countries with leading armies are: Israel, Turkey, France, Germany, Russia.

this is a tricky question as: a. no armies are the same size and b. each army has its own strengths and weaknesses. the US is probably the most technologically advanced although japan could probably give them a run for their money but their military budget is no where near as big as the USA. and don't be fooled the M14 is pretty out dated. one flaw with the US is they mainly use their air force and navy to blow the crap out of everyone before they send in the grunts so the army tends to fall into a cleanup and surpression role. Alot of people say the Israelis are the best, they're pretty good in all area's but there training is top notch. one flaw id have to metion though is they predominatly focus on urban environments in their training, so arn't as good in the open as many other armies. the british army is also highly regarded for there courage and disiplane and the're good in all areas, but that's a flaw in itself because they can do every job well but no job great. The Australian army is pretty good and i like the AUG as it is a bullpup and is aurguably better then any other frontline weapon, the sa-80 coming in close second, but that's a whole nother debate. any way one of the pro's of the Australian army is they are the best for recon and basic in the feild stuff. they train in every environment imanginable and are always on peace keeping missions in east timor so are well re hearsed with jungle warfare. their one main flaw is they arn't as big as many other countries.i could go on and on like this and weigh up the strenths an weaknesses of every army in the world. these are probly the top 4 Switzerland would be fifth anyway to sum up if they all fough the us would probly come out on top. one soldier on one soldier in a field environment Australia would win, urban would be isralies. but hopefully we will never have it come to a full blown war so this question is ultimatly unnessasary, but in answer to your question there is no best army.

i would have to agree with that ^ they are all as good as each other and sacrifice themselves for queen and country.
