Charles Frederick Gurney Masterman PC (October 24, 1873 - November 17, 1927) was a British politician and journalist. At the outbreak of World War I, he became head of the British War Propaganda Bureau (WPB), whose role was to provide support for Britain through the manipulation of information about the Central Powers (the German, Austro-Hungarian, and Ottoman Empires and the Kingdom of Bulgaria), and, most importantly, encourage the isolationist United States to enter the war on the side of Britain and France.
