Shell Shock:
Summed up in a few short words, shell shock is the battle fatigue. It is a mental disorder caused by the stress of active warfare and death all around the soldiers. It frequently caused depression or insanity. Some of the tougher men managed to come back home with a sane mind while others either came back completely changed or didn't come back at all.
Trench Warfare:
WWI is widely known for the type of warfare the soldiers used. They fought using trench warfare tactics. The opposing armies would dig a trench in the ground and then lob explosives at each other using howitzers, trench mortars, and other early weapons.

Conditions:
All around the soldiers there was constant death and noise. One would have to get used to short naps in between attacks. Animals such as rats, lice, and frogs would spread disease and soiled food. Latrines were either nonexistent or normally overfilled. The air always reeked of carcasses, unwashed men, poison gas (thrown by the opposing army) and filth (as in overflowing latrines)

When the First World War broke out, many believed it would be over by Christmas, and would be a "great adventure", an opportunity to see some of the world.
oh
The war would have dragged on and the Germans would have perfected more 'terror weapons' like the V2 rockets, and possibly supplied them with primitive atomic warheads.
well.... some might think peaceful but it was still very bad.
yes it was and it was just like ww1 but the poopys where used for every think in ww2
When we think of war you probably think of men fighting on a battlefield.People think they did all the work... But in World War Two woman were very important. Without women the war would have been a disaster. Who made the airplanes, who made the bombs and who risked their lives to help the war. Woman did! Some of the work like making bombs was very dangerous so they had to be careful. They also provided the men with food, drink and clothing.
Archimedes Inventing pi think about what the world would be like without it
Nah. What in the world made you think like that? lol Seriously now... Most volunteers do their best to provide a serious honest and objective answer where possible. But the site is open to everyone... even to those who ask impertinent questions ;-)
A better world.
I don't think this question is answerable. It might be better formulated as one of these questions: * What would the world be like if people were not greedy? * What would the world be like if money was never invented? * What would the world be like if communism could work?
I think the world would be like a half heart. If the world is half heart then people can't easily love each other, then people will (i think) fight always or everyday, then the world will look miserable
I am 8 and I think it would lead to a bunch of wars
Volunteers like me provide them.
Like what? Itself? Each other? The best way would probably be making them all saints. There's no way they couldn't like each other then! How about an all teens world? think about it? how long would it take you to make a world like this. obviously this world isn't perfect but it is still a pretty great world
I think that if the war had been won by the Germans they would have continued on until the whole world was run by them or until someone finally beat them. Our world would be a lot less free and very much different from the way it is now. I think that if the other group had one they would have began to take over Russia and the other places like that although I don't think that was their plan in the first place.
There only two i can think of 1.) There would be no faith in Islam 2.) There would be no Muslims in the whole entire world
i think the world 100 years from now will be filled with all new technoligies
I think it would be worth a million dollars.
