What did the women do in the factories in World War 2?

• Worked in the war plants building planes, tanks, Jeeps, bombs, ammo, weapons and boats. They made uniforms, packed K rations and others took care of the kids of the moms who worked.
• 300,000 joined the military to fly planes, do clerical work, be nurses and to do jobs the military men left behind (they went to the war front).
• They grew gardens, bought billions of dollars of war bonds, gave up things to be recycled, gave up driving so the military could have fuel and they had fund drives and bandage rolling meetings.
• They joined the Red Cross and did hundreds of tasks. Some of them went to the war front to support the troops or care for the wounded.
• Entertainers joined the USO to entertain the troops, sailors, Marines and aviators.
• They sacrificed their men and many lost their sons, fathers, brothers, uncles, nephews and cousins. Some lost their daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, nieces and cousins.
