Newton was a known criminal, who hypocritically sold drugs to his own community as well as much like the Ku Klux Klan (a white supremacist group) raped women of opposite races as his form of racial "defiance." He believed by tormenting young women he was showing his support for black power and stomping on the "Man's" laws.
