General Arisaka designed the 7.7MM bolt action Japanese service rifle used during WW2. The 7.7mm shoots a .311 (diameter) bullet, the same size as the British .303 service rifle. NORMA of Sweden continues to produce, and has produced commercial (brand new brass) 7.7mm ammunition for these Japanese rifles (WW2 war souvenirs) since the 1960's. During the 1960's the NRA (US National Rifle Association) conducted "torture tests" on WW2 rifles; these tests were published in their magazine, "The American Rifleman"; tests showed that the Arisaka 7.7mm rifle held together and was built stronger than the British 303, Mauser model 98, Springfield '03, and Italian Carcano 6.5mm rifles.
