The Confederate army at Charleston had 3 major batteries of heavy artillery (8 to 10 inch cannon) located at Fort Moultrie (Sullivan's Island) Fort Johnson (James Island) and the Battery (Oyster point , The Battery, Charleston proper) Minor batteries were at Castle Pickney and other locations.
