∙ 15y agoThe Confederate army at Charleston had 3 major batteries of heavy artillery (8 to 10 inch cannon) located at Fort Moultrie (Sullivan's Island) Fort Johnson (James Island) and the Battery (Oyster point , The Battery, Charleston proper) Minor batteries were at Castle Pickney and other locations. Some field artillery was also used on the bar near Morris island. The Union in the fort itself has some large dahlgren cannon of about 10 inches and a smattering of smaller ordinance.
