Her parents got her hidden, she was adapatable enough to do what was necessary to survive the rigors of living as a hidden Jew, and she did not look stereotypically Jewish. Also, na matter how scared she was at any given moment, overall, she was a very courageous and intelligent little girl, who understood that this was not a game, and that not following what she was told could mean death.
