America's entering the war on the side of the Allies ensured the defeat of Germany and thus the end of the war. It also made America look towards the wider world and, temporarily, abandon its isolationist policies. Sadly, America's cosmopolitan outlook didn't last, and was only revived by WWII.

Obviously slavery ending was a great thing that came from the Civil War. Also the union was rejoined. Many things were created in the medicine departments of battle fields medicines were created that are still used today such as bromine which had an original cause to fight against gang green. Things were also developed technologically. The Civil war was the first war fought in which the president could give direct orders the generals. This happened because of telegraphs, Abraham Lincoln was the first to do this. Which would have been an advantage to the North. So the telegraph, medicines and the orders in which doctors treat their patients are few of the many good things that came from the Civil war. Although this war was a bloody fight with over 600,000 Americans killed or injured, it was a good thing for the development of America.
