The Divine Wind was a last ditch attempt to stop American ships. Basically it referred to an aircraft that was loaded with explosives. The pilot would fly the plane into a ship where it would blow up. In a way it was a primitive missile with a human guidance system. Japanese airman were usually very young and poorly trained. The planes were often not fully equipped.
