Probably, the most famous hill in the QT area is the "Rockpile" just off of Highway 9 (QL 9). Moving west from QT on Hwy 9 (was a dirt road in the war), pass old Firebase (Camp) Carroll (Camp Carroll had a battery of 155mm Self Propelled Guns stationed there), continue on and "Rockpile" was on the right; roughly five hundred yards off the road. Behind the "Rockpile" was the "Razerbacks" (as some men have said). Maybe a mile or two past Rockpile, on the left was Firebase Vandergrift, used to have a battery of 155mm split trailed field guns (towed field pieces) stationed there. Somewhere around this area was KHE SANH, the old siege area involving the US Marines, President Johnson, and NVA General Giap back in '68. Further west a few more miles was Firebase Lang Vei (over run by NVA PT-76 tanks in '68...was a Green Beret outpost)...Lang Vei sits on the border of Laos, by less than a mile. Unless "your" mountain is on the coast, or near the DMZ (US Army Outposts A-4 and C-2, and known by the US Marines as Con Thien), all of which appeared to be rather flat, when compared to the western regions as described in the first paragraph; then the most famous hill (mountain) in the QT area was ROCKPILE.
