Point target would be like a human being. An m16 is accurate to 550 meters, roughly, in a well trained shooters hands.
Against an area target, like a truck, you should be able to hit it from 600+ meters
The small .223 caliber bullet will lack much power at these ranges. It will strike with roughly the same energy as a 9mm handgun at point blank range.
100 meters = 1000 foot/lbs energy
500 meters = 300 foot/lbs energt
Also the effective fragmentation range of the M16 is usually 100 yards or less, so lethality drops greatly the further out you go.
its m16 as number 16 like m60 m4 m15911 etc
The M16 was first used by the United States Air Force in 1962. Prior to this it was known as the AR-15. The United States Army began to field the M16 in 1965 in Vietnam.

no, its was designed in the 1960's.
The M16, a 5.56x45mm assault rifle, is based on the AR-15 rifle originally designed by Eugene Stoner, and produced by ArmaLite. Upon entering service with the United States armed forces, the M16 name was adopted, and the contract to build these rifles was given to Colt's Manufacturing Company. Since then Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal (FNH), H&R Firearms, the General Motors Hydramatic Division, and Sabre Defence have also built the M16 rifle for the U.S. military.
The effective range of an M16 assault rifle with 20-inch barrel is 550 meters for a point target, and 800 meters for an area target.
The effective range of an M16 assault rifle with a 20 inch barrel is 550 meters for a point target, and up to 800 meters for an area target.
The M16 family of rifles have an effective range of 550 meters for a point target and 800 meters for an area target.
The maximum range of the M16 rifle is 3,534 meters. The maximum effective range of the M16 rifle (point target) is 550 meters, which is about 600 yards, and around 800 meters (area target), which is around 875 yards. Point target is you aiming directly at your target (accounting for windage and elevation as necessary). Area target is basically you shooting at a range beyond that where you can aim directly for your target, but there is still a chance the round will hit. Of course, the actual effective range also depends on the user's marksmanship.

UMP45 because its automatic and overpowered. The only benefit with the the M16 is that it has barely any recoil. I would go with the UMP45. It's really a comparison of apples and oranges. The UMP is a submachinegun, whereas the M16 is an assault rifle. The UMP fires a pistol cartridge, thus, you're looking at an effective range of 50 to 100 metres, vs. the M16, which has an effective range of 550 metres at a point target.
Oh, it's wonderful to see you curious about firearms, my friend! The M16 rifle can shoot accurately up to about 550-800 meters, depending on various factors like ammunition type and barrel length. Remember, it's important to handle firearms with care and always prioritize safety above all else.
The M16 assault rifle has a greater range than the M4 carbine as a result of its 20-inch barrel, compared with 14.5 for the M4. The M16 can hit an area target out to 800 meters while the M4 is effective to 600 meters.
Point target is when you are trying to hit a specific point. The area target is when you land within the vicinity of the target.
As the M16 is not a sniping weapon, records of confirmed kills and distances generally are not kept. Special purpose variants of the M16 designed for designated marksmen and using the 77 grain Mk. 262 ammunition have been confirmed to have hit targets out to 700 metres (whereas 550 metres is the specified point target range for an M16 with standard 62 grain M855 ball ammo), but there is no record of whether or not kills have been confirmed at such ranges.
