What is Army officer candidate school?

There about 7 ways to gain a US Army commission: 1. US Military Academy at West Point 2. State Military Academies/State OCS's 3. College ROTC 4. Battlefield commissions 5. Direct commissions 6. Private Military Academies 7. US Army OCS Army OCS was the Army's way of making mass produced officers from drafted men, such as during WW2. Sometimes, they were referred to as "90 day wonders." During the Vietnam War, drafted men were GT tested (military IQ) those with 110 scores or above could be sent to OCS. College was NOT a requirement for Army officers during the Vietnam War.

Hitler 'political genius'?

Hitler did not advance human understanding in the field of political science, except as a historical footnote. While cunning, highly organized, and very charismatic, these qualities do not qualify him as a genius.__Hitler had above average intelligence, but few scholars would argue that Hilter was an original thinker, much less a bonafide genius (militarily, politically, or otherwise). If one studies the history of World War II, one will see that he made some arguably unwise decisions (aganist the judgment of his military council) in regard to his alliance to Italy and opposition to Russia. Some believe that if Hitler did not turn Germany against Russia, Germany would have won the war. However, that is actually very unlikely (or impossible) based on the information provided below.Time Table:Hitler committed suicide in April of 1945.In July of 1945 the United States tested the first atomic weapon.Hiroshima and Nagasaki were bombed in August of 1945.Based on the time table above it should be clear that if Hitler had not directed Germany to attack Russia, Germany would obviously still have lost World War II. The allies had perfected the atomic bomb and would have used it against Germany, annihilating the German military and laying waste to the entire country's infrastructure for centuries.Fortunately, Hitler attacked the Soviet Union (against the advice of his own military council). The Soviets swiftly wiped-out the Nazis, saving Eastern Europe from significant radioactive fallout. As far as his Hitler's measurable intellect, consider the following:Adolf Hitler never took an IQ test in his life. There are no credible academic sources claiming that he did. During the Nuremberg Trails several Nazi officers took a crude IQ test and none of them scored as high as 145, therefor it is highly unlikely that Hitler (with a high school education and former rank of corporal in the German military) would have been any more intelligent than his officers. His literary accomplishments amount to one finished book, an unfinished manuscript, and several documents that were dictated before he committed suicide. None of this work is recognized as being particularly creative or having advanced human understanding.

What other groups of people did Hitler target?

He attempted to exterminate the Jewish Community. And he also used them as scapegoats. Basically the Jewish population, and any other population that stood in the way of his plans for a superior race.== ==Some sources put the death tolls as such:* 6,000,000 Jews * 400,000 gypsies * 70,000 disabled people * 20,000 Jehovah's Witnesses * 15,000 homosexuals * 1,000 Catholic clergy membersThe Jews.

What battle did Tommy Ricketts serve in WW1?

When he was just 15 years old Tommy Ricketts lied about his age and enlisted with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. On October 14, 1918, at Ledeghem, Belgium, his platoon came under heavy fire. Ricketts volunteered to go with his section commander in an attempt to outflank the German gun. The RNR soldiers ran out of ammunition. Ricketts doubled back, under deadly machine-gun fire, and returned to help drive the enemy back. His action saved many lives and Ricketts became the youngest soldier to ever receive the Victoria Cross. "He was very humble, very proud of what he did, but never wanted a fuss made out of it, or of him," said Capt. Michael Pretty of the Canadian Forces. Newfoundlanders sent thousands of soldiers to fight and die on the battlefields of Europe. The then-British colony suffered heavy losses in the war. "Out of this gloom there was this ray of light, this Newfoundlander who won the highest award you can win for bravery. So in a sense, with the strong identification between the people of Newfoundland and the Newfoundland Regiment, this was the people of Newfoundland vicariously winning a Victoria Cross as well," said Memorial University military historian Michael O'Brien. After the war Ricketts became a pharmacist and lived a quiet life in St. John's. He died in 1967, but his name lives on. Part of a museum in the city is dedicated to him. And schoolchildren still learn about him. "We need heroes, and Tommy Ricketts was a hero," says Capt. Pretty.
