What is the purpose of the World War 2 memorial?

History is important. Please be assured, if you don't know what happened yesterday how can you possibly know what tomorrow brings is better than what went before ? Although I realise that history may be 'outdated' it cannot be denied that the future is 100% based on it. As regards the Holocaust, WW2 is the greatest act of Inhumanity since the days of Slavery. It cannot be defended. It must be morally indefencible to believe that people should be destroyed because of their religious beliefs, or that a man should be able to own another man simply because his skin is a different colour. Some people are Holocaust denyers. Shout these people down with all your might. At the going down of the sun, & in the morning, we will remember them. Of ALL faiths and of all nations.

It makes people aware of the number of men and women who served in the war and died to preserve freedom. No one who is willing to do that should be forgotten.
