What side was Switzerland on in World War 2?

During World War I, Belgium began the conflict as a neutral. Within a week, it had been invaded by Germany and thus entered the war at that time on the side of the Triple Alliance. Although most of its territory would be overrun and then occupied by German forces until 1918, Belgian troops held (and fought from) a portion of the northern front line for the duration of the war.

Some of the big clashes between big countries had been fought on Swiss territory... and after 1815 Switzerland was assigned to be neutral (and defend the own zone).

When ww2 started in 1939 the Swiss army mobilised troops to the northern border towards Germany and France. This completely defensive aligned army was thought to stop any possible penetration of Swiss territory (by anybody). Some clashes between Swiss air force and Luftwaffe are reported. Active armament continued till the end of the war.

This means officially Switzerland was neutral. Some bankers gained fortunes dealing with Germany and the USA. Some thought maybe Germany was right - and most hoped for an ally (who came in form of the USA at the end). Don't forget that France went down after 40 days at the beginning of the war, England seemed to collapse, Russia was on German side first and the USA didn't enter war before 1941 (December).
