When the Bolsheviks toppled the Provisional Government, they did not make the same mistake, and were going to make peace with Germany at any price, the price ultimately being a huge chunk of western Russia (retrieved and returned by the victorious Allied Powers at the Versailles Conference) and a near alliance with the former enemy Germans.
