To get recruited you had to go to a recruitment office and you had to be 17 or older. When the US. was short on soldiers, they started drafting people. The men of the house would receive a letter that told them to join the army.

Every country had different ways of recruiting their soldiers during World War II. In the United States they implemented the draft which required all men that were 16 years old would be called to serve if their number was chosen. In areas such as Australia any male that was under the age of 25 and not married was required to report for training. If they passed their training they were selected to serve as a soldier.

When men were drafted in the United States in WW2, they were told in a letter to report to a specific location (military induction center). These men traveled at their own expense to these locations.
