There were over 500,000 casualties , including 112,000 deaths (46,000 Allied deaths, 66,000 Turkish deaths)
Other sources quote 33,000 Allies killed and 8,000 missing, while Turkish deaths were officially recorded as 86,692.
Quoting the book Gallipoli by L.A.Carlyon the figures were:
About one million men from both sides served at Gallipoli and between one-third and one-half became casualties. The Turks put their losses at 251,309 including 86,692 dead. The French ..admitted.. 27,000 casualties, 10,000 dead. British losses came out at 73,485, including 21,255 dead. The Australians lost 8,709 dead and 19,441 injured. The New Zealand figures were frightful: of the 8,556 who served at Gallipoli, 2,701 died and 4,752 were wounded.
Many of the losses were incurred as a botched landing meant that the allied troops were decimated by machine gun fire as they attempted to land on small beaches surrounded by high cliffs. Many were killed in the boats before reaching the shore.
