One effect of the Zimmerman Telegram (Zimmerman Note,) was the United States involvement in WWI(1914-1918). Woodrow Wilson was the President of the United States during WWI and had personal convection that kept the USA out of the war, even after the sinking of American passenger ship (1915) due to Germany's "Unrestricted Submarine Warfare." The Zimmerman Note was sent from Germany to Mexico stating that Germany would help Mexico regain the territory that they lost to the US is they would attack the US. The telegram was intercepted by the USA, and Woodrow Wilson requested that congress consider the USA joining the war effort. The USA began sending troop in 1917 the war end a year later.
