Italy, Greece, Turkey and the USA entered the war somewhat later.

∙ 11y agoThe assassination of Austria-Hungary's Archduke Franz Ferdinand, who was the brother of Austria-Hungary's ruler Franz-Josef, by a Serbian terrorist Gavrillo Princip on June 28, 1914 caused AH to declare war on Serbia. Due to various treaties signed by both the sides almost all of the European countries entered the war. This was the immediate reason for the declaration of World War I .
