The Marshal plan was initiated for recovery os European Region after the World War II. It was named after the Secretary of State George C. Marshall who offically announced it. It was announced on 5th june 1947 and focused on providing financial help to European Countries affected by the War.
Europe following World War Two was in economic ruin. Six years of fighting had left the economies of Europe devastated. To counter-act this, United States State Department developed "The Marshall Plan" (officially known as the European Recovery Program), which involved the United States giving $17 billion in economic support to European countries following the war. The plan was put into action in April 1948, and helped spur on an incredible recovery of Europe's economies.
To meet this emergency, Secretary of State George Marshall proposed in a speech at Harvard University on June 5, 1947, that European nations create a plan for their economic reconstruction and that the United States provide economic assistance.
