There has never been an invasion of Canada, attempted or completed. However, before Canada was a nation, there were several incursions: the French and English traded various territory back and forth several times before the English finally took permanent control after the Seven Year's War; Irish-American immigrants perpetrated the "Fenian raids," in order to pressure the British government to pull out of Ireland; members of the Hunters' Lodges attempted to indirectly cause a revolution in the colony of Upper Canada; American revolutionary forces struck north at Montreal, but lost the Battle of Quebec; the last but most famous was the War of 1812, in which American and British forces invaded the other's territories, fought to a stalemate, and restored all occupied lands according to the resultant Treaty of Ghent.

The objective of the patriots invasion of Canada was the take over Quebec and have them join America in the struggle against Britain. It failed because the peace treaty signed at the end stipulated that all lad captured by either side be returned.
