If you mean the difference between the Propaganda and the reality, the Germans appear to have been most successful at this. It is said that when Germany was finally forced to surrender, that many of the German people were shocked as the impression they had was that they were winning. Both sides also tended to glamorize the terrible realities of the trenches as they did not wish to stifle recruitment.
