There was a variety of weaponry in widespread use in 1400. The most common were swords, axes, spears and lances. Cannons and mortars were in development but were not yet in widespread use.

But the "superweapon" of the early 1400s was the English yew longbow. On October 25, 1415, French knights and footmen attacked the English army near the French village of Agincourt. The French had a 5 to 1 advantage, and the English were tired by weeks of marching. The battle was a slaughter.

The French were decisively beaten, and the English were victorious, because the English archers were able to kill their enemies from hundreds of yards away, well beyond the length of the French lances.

Swords, bows and arrows, crossbows, matchlock pistols and muskets (and yes, there was gunpowder back then). 1604 came shortly before the first flintlock weapons were developed (in 1810), so it was getting to the end of the era where firearms were merely used to augment weapons such as crossbows and longbows.
