it didnt effect some peasents as they didnt live close to where The Battle of Hastings happened. they would still have lived in the same houses and carried out the same jobs, farming ect. Due to the Norman conquest the language also changed so many Saxons started to call their children Norman names. Also, due to William's sucsess he ordered the Domesday book to go around, this meant that poor peasents had to tell the truth about their live stock or else they would have been killed this also lead to them having to pay high taxes which they couldn't afford. motte and bailey castles were starting to be build. these were week but did the job of housing Williams fighters. he also had cathedrals built for him. this is also the time that the harrowing of the north took place.
