For detailed information see website: Battle of the Philippine Sea. The IJN lost the rest of their naval aircrewmen at the Philippine Sea...also known as the the Great Marianna's Turkey Shoot...there's something to be said for "experience." All of the IJN's best airmen died at Midway, and IJN pilot trainee's went up to meet battle hardened USN pilots at the Philippine Sea...it was a Turkey Shoot.

Which site was the naval battle in the Philippines?

The first was the "Battle of the Philippine Sea" (aka the Marianna's Turkey Shoot; due to so many "trainee" IJN pilots being shot down by combat experienced USN pilots). The second was history's largest naval battle, the "Battle of Leyte Gulf."

What were key battles and outcomes between Japan and US in World War 2 who were some of main commanders on both sides?

The war in the Pacific was a NAVAL WAR. Land battle victories were irrelevant. A victorious army holding an island could be starved into NO ARMY AT ALL without control of the sea to re-supply it. SOME of the key naval battles in the pacific were: The Battle of the Java Sea, The Battle of the Coral Sea (Japanese tactical victory/US strategical victory), Battle of Savo Island, Sea Battles off of Guadalcanal, Battle of Midway, Battle of the Philippine Sea, Battle of Leyte Gulf (history's largest naval battle), and the battle between the British battleship & battlecruiser, HMS Prince of Wale & HMS Repulse, both of which were sunk by Japanese Army twin engine bomber/torpedo airplanes.
